A 15-year-old boy died following an illness that hit him while he was bathing with some friends in the waters of Lake Maggiore .

The tragedy took place in Arolo , near Leggiuno, in the province of Varese .

According to an initial reconstruction of the incident, the teenager was in the company of some peers and was swimming in the lake when he suddenly felt ill . Just friends and other people present have rescued him, bringing him to shore.

Then the 15-year-old was resuscitated and rushed to hospital , where he was admitted to intensive care.

The attempts of doctors to save his life, however, have unfortunately turned out to be in vain .
