A 59-year-old man, who worked for a cooperative, died this morning due to an accident at work in a marble quarry in the Apuan Alps , in the Fantiscritti area in the Miseglia locality, in the municipality of Carrara .

From what we have learned, the man was driving a dumper, a heavy vehicle used in quarrying, which fell for several meters: the 59-year-old was crushed under the vehicle and died.

The accident occurred in quarry number 150 shortly after 8am.

The Quarry Rescue Service intervened on site with doctors and nurses from 118, prevention, hygiene and safety operators in the workplace, firefighters and law enforcement.

Also on site was the mayor of Carrara, Serena Arrighi.
