The Court of Appeal of L'Aquila has reserved its decision on the appeal filed by the lawyers of the family living in the Palmoli woods challenging the suspension of Nathan and Catherine's parental rights and the removal of their three minor children, who were placed in a protected center with their mother present by order of the Juvenile Court.
The panel adopted this decision at the end of the documentary hearing, which took place remotely this afternoon.
According to judicial sources, the family's lawyers have until midnight tonight to submit further defense briefs. The Court of Appeal has 60 days to issue a ruling from the date the family reunification application is filed; the deadline expires on January 27th.
Furthermore, there's no news from a week ago, explained Palmoli Mayor Giuseppe Masciulli: "There's still no response from the family regarding the home lessons given by the Palmoli teacher. There's still no contact with the family or the lawyers."
Regarding the project to be submitted to the municipal technical office regarding the expansion and adaptation of the farmhouse in the woods, Masciulli explains that "nothing has yet been submitted to the municipality."
And surveyor Simone Agostino, who had offered to take on the project to make the home more comfortable for the three children, confirms he hasn't received any information from Nathan Trevallion. "Christmas is upon us, and I hope it's a peaceful and joyful one for this family. They've done nothing wrong; they just wanted to live freely, in full compliance with the laws of the country that hosts them," he said.
