The sentence of 3 years and 6 months in prison for extortion aggravated by the mafia method against the former Palermo player Fabrizio Miccoli is final.

The judges of the Cassation confirmed the appeal sentence and wrote the final word on the judicial matter. The former striker should turn himself in and spend at least a short time in prison before he can request alternative measures to detention.

Miccoli was accused of having commissioned Mauro Lauricella, son of the boss of Kalsa Antonino known as "u scintilluni" (who is already serving a 7-year sentence in prison), the task of recovering 12 thousand euros from the entrepreneur Andrea Graffagnini, owner of the nightclub Paparazzi, on behalf of the former Palermo physiotherapist Giorgio Gasparini, who would have turned to Miccoli.

The former footballer had involved Lauricella with whom he was on friendly terms when he wore the Palermo shirt. In the records of the investigation also some interceptions between the two, in which Miccoli is heard calling Giovanni Falcone "that mud". Phrase for which the former striker apologized publicly in tears.
