The investigating judge of Milan Alberto Carboni has ordered further investigations into the case of Anna Giugliano, the 28-year-old who on 8 March 2023 underwent an operation to reduce weight, through bariatric surgery, at the Humanitas clinical institute in Rozzano and was then died after hospitalization due to severe pain and high fever.

The judge accepted the opposition presented by the young woman's family to the request for dismissal made by the prosecutor Valentina Mondovì, holder of the file for manslaughter contested against two doctors of the hospital. The prosecutor was given three months to hear summary information from a Humanitas operator, the mother and sister of the 28-year-old and to carry out a series of analyzes on her mobile phone, in particular relating to the days between 10 and 18 March of last year.

At the basis of the decision there is the need to delve into two profiles: the first concerns the information given to the patient regarding the possible complications in the post-operative phase and the second, however, on the moment in which the two doctors were made aware of the "persistent feverish state and pain" complained by the young woman, who had noted her temperature on some sheets as early as March 15th.
