The Green pass is still essential because "the numbers are growing" and the "curve is rising".
Health Minister Roberto Speranza said this when taking stock of the Covid-19 pandemic.
"We think that at this moment the Green pass is fundamental, because it allows us to keep all places of socialization, culture, restaurants, schools and universities open - underlined guest at 'Half an hour more' on Rai3 -. In a different epidemiological framework, we will naturally make all the necessary assessments. ”All this, however, taking into account that at this moment" the numbers are growing ".
As for the state of emergency, expiring exactly in two months, on 31 December 2021, it is not excluded that it will be extended: "As a government we will rely on scientific evidence, if it is necessary to extend the state of emergency we will do it without fear" .
For the third booster “we have all the necessary doses. We have no problem with doses. We must insist and accelerate on this and we are doing it, in some days we have exceeded 100 thousand per day. Today we recommend it to all people over 60 who have completed their period for more than 6 months and all the frail of any age. These people can book it immediately ". On the possibility of extending the booster dose to everyone" we will evaluate it with the whole scientific community, at this moment we are starting from the most fragile categories ".
The question of the vaccine for children between 5 and 12 years is also developing: "An EMA evaluation procedure is underway and our hope is that it can be expressed by the end of the year, in December: when it will be expressed, also in Italy it will be possible to proceed with this vaccination ".
Meanwhile, he says he is satisfied with the results achieved so far by the vaccination campaign: "We have never given ourselves the dry target of 90% of the vaccinated population but if they had told me that today there would have been 86% with the first dose I would have been happy . However 90% is an ambitious goal but within our reach ".
"The shield that we have built with the vaccination campaign is working and will protect us even in the autumn and winter months. It is clear, however, that this shield must be accompanied by caution and precautionary measures, such as indoor masks which are a fundamental piece of our strategy and we are not willing to give it up ", he concluded.
