An 80-year-old man died this morning in Coreca, a hamlet in the municipality of Amantea (Cosenza), after being hit by a car driven by a 30-year-old man along the State Road 18 Tirrena inferiore.

The driver stopped to provide assistance after the accident, which occurred near the victim's home. Despite the intervention of 118, there was nothing that could be done for the elderly man.

Carabinieri from the Paola Company's mobile radio unit also responded to the scene and began investigations, which are still ongoing, to determine the circumstances of the accident.
