Massimo Galli sentenced to one year and four months for forgery, with a suspended sentence and no mention.
The infectious disease specialist and former head of the Sacco hospital, now retired and on the front line during the most dramatic phases of the Covid pandemic, was on trial for auction rigging - a charge from which he was acquitted - and for forgery in a of the Milanese investigation into alleged staged competitions for professor and researcher positions at the Faculty of Medicine of the State University of Milan .
The sentence comes from the tenth criminal section of the Court of Milan, which instead acquitted Agostino Riva, his close collaborator at the time.
«On the fake the only thing I feel like admitting is that I forgot to correct a timetable», commented Galli. The professor, who said he was "absolutely calm", added: "If to close the matter it was necessary to have a conviction for something, evidently only the possibility of forgery remained." The infectious disease specialist has announced that he will appeal.
