The owner and two teachers of a private nursery in the Milan area ended up under house arrest in an investigation by the Carabinieri investigative unit for aggravated mistreatment of 35 children aged between 6 months and 3 years.

The kindergarten had already been the subject of similar investigations by the Legnano police, following which, in January 2023, the same owner and 5 other educators were subjected to the precautionary measure of the obligation to sign with a ban on operating of the profession for 12 months.

The investigation, coordinated by the Milan prosecutor Maria Cardellicchio and the deputy Letizia Mannella, began following reports of mistreatment made by two former teachers on internships at the private kindergarten in September 2023. According to what was reconstructed in During the investigation, the three women shouted a short distance from the children's faces for punitive purposes, using aggressive tones and scurrilous expressions, they jerked them and pulled their ears, forcing them to sit on the chair or high chair, where they confined them in the dark, leaving them locked in the bathroom alone when they couldn't sleep.

Also according to the accusation, the children were placed in cribs and locked alone in a room when they cried, without even being changed when necessary.

The owner of the nursery had already been sent to trial last March together with five teachers at the time because, according to the investigations, they had had violent and "overbearing" attitudes towards the children.
