Child hit by car on crosswalk with his mother, dies after two days of agony

The 6-year-old boy who was hit by a car on Wednesday afternoon while crossing the pedestrian crossing on Via Noalese, in Santa Maria di Sala (Venice), with his mother, died in Padua hospital .

The little boy, like his mother, was a Ukrainian refugee who had fled the war in his country and was staying with other Ukrainian families in a former rectory.

The child, thrown from the car several meters away, was in critical condition. Yesterday, the Gazzettino reports, the child was declared brain dead, and he died that evening.
