A one-and-a-half-year-old boy is in serious condition at Padua's pediatric hospital after falling from a fifth-floor terrace of an apartment building on the outskirts of Mestre (Venice). The accident occurred yesterday evening.

According to initial reconstructions, the child managed to squeeze between the iron bars of the terrace's parapet, and before hitting the ground from a height of about 15 meters, he hit a corrugated plastic roof, which cushioned his fall.

The family is of Bangladeshi origin and has lived in Mestre for about ten years. The father was at work, and only the mother was at home. Emergency medical workers rushed to the scene, stabilized him, and rushed him to the hospital in Padua.
