While riding his mountain bike, he was struck by a roe deer and fell to the ground, dying instantly. The tragic accident occurred this morning, around 9:30 a.m., in Pontida (Bergamo) along a dirt cycle/pedestrian path near Canto Alto.
The victim was Osvaldo Busca, 64, from Rivolta d'Adda (Cremona). The accident occurred along the Papa Giovanni trail.
The man from Cremona was with a friend when he encountered the roe deer. Upon impact, the man fell to the ground, struck in the shoulder and chest by the wild animal.
Busca initially got up, telling his friend he wasn't feeling well, and then lost consciousness. His friend immediately called for help. The emergency doctor suspected that the strong blow to the rib cage could have been fatal to the man's heart.
