A series of bomb scares marked a particularly difficult morning for European civil aviation.

Two passenger planes were inspected in Warsaw, and a third in Murcia, Spain. Local Bulgarian media also reported that a plane from Israel landed at Sofia Airport after receiving an email alert about the presence of a bomb.

The flights inspected in Warsaw originated from London Heathrow and Copenhagen, respectively. The flight from London Heathrow made an unscheduled landing at Warsaw Modlin Airport. It was headed to Warsaw's main airport, Chopin, with 181 people on board. A second flight from Copenhagen to Chopin Airport also received a bomb threat, according to Danish media reports. It landed regularly. Meanwhile, a Ryanair plane from Manchester made an emergency landing at Murcia Airport in southern Spain due to another threat. The flight had 121 people on board, including the crew, according to local authorities.

Meanwhile, two Ryanair flights from Lisbon and Dublin were also inspected at Fiumicino following false bomb threats.

An email triggered the emergency procedures, according to investigative sources. The email, which apparently reached the ADR company, reported the presence of explosive devices on flights arriving from Lisbon and Dublin. Air Force fighter jets were also scrambled.
