"We set out with 110 people." This is according to some of the 32 survivors who arrived at Molo Favarolo in Lampedusa after being rescued in Libyan SAR waters. It appears that around eighty people ended up in the sea and drowned before the arrival of the Coast Guard patrol boat CP327, which was joined by the sailing vessels Ievoli Grey and Saavedra Tide.
Thirty-two migrants were rescued by the Italian Coast Guard. The military also recovered two bodies.
The migrants—Pakistani, Bangladeshi, and Egyptian—were found in the open sea. The 12-15 meter boat they had set sail on from Tripoli, Libya, capsized, and the refugees remained in the water for some time before being intercepted and rescued. Aerial photographs, taken when the alarm was raised, captured the shipwreck.
