Benedetto Ceraulo, 63, the man who killed entrepreneur Maurizio Gucci in 1995 and who fired two gunshots in the face at his son Gaetano, 37, on April 22, at the height of an argument in the garden of the house where he lived in Santa Maria a Monte (Pisa), has died.

Ceraulo died in the hospital in Pisa where he was hospitalized in serious conditions : with a small caliber pistol he had shot himself in the head shortly after having wounded his son in an argument that arose, according to an initial reconstruction by the carabinieri, for trivial reasons. A scratch on the car made by the son.

Immediately after being admitted to hospital, Gaetano Ceraulo, injured in the face but not in danger of life, published a post on his Facebook page in which he addressed his father: "I forgive you for the harm you have done to me but not for the harm you have inflicted on yourself."

Ceraulo had been joined by his son, who lives in Milan, to spend the Easter holidays in Santa Maria a Monte where the 63-year-old had moved.

The man had been considered the perpetrator of the ambush in 1995, organized by Gucci's ex-wife, Patrizia Reggiani. Sentenced to life imprisonment in the first instance in 1998, the sentence was reduced on appeal to 28 years, 11 months and 20 days. Thanks to his good behavior, he had been released from the Gorgona penitentiary for a couple of years, where he had been detained for a long time.
