Two climbers were seriously injured in separate mountain accidents in the Belluno Dolomites. A 49-year-old man from Bassano del Grappa, who fell from a stepped ledge on Ra Gusela, in the Nuvolau group, is in the most critical condition.
Starting from the Via Paola rest stop, the hiker fell about ten meters, hitting the rock several times, suffering severe injuries. He was rescued by the "Falco 2" helicopter using a winch, which lowered a rescue technician, a doctor, and a nurse to the scene.
After receiving urgent first aid, the injured man was moved to Passo Giau, where medical staff continued stabilizing him, before boarding and taking off for the Treviso hospital .
The second alarm went off shortly after on Civetta, where a 40-year-old from Bologna fell about ten meters due to the collapse of a hold on the first pitch of Via Tissi, on Pan di Zucchero.
The man, the lead climber, hit the wall and fell at the base of the route, about ten meters below. The initial diagnosis was a probable head injury . Landing with a winch, the helicopter rescue technician and the medical team administered first aid and then, with the help of other climbers present, moved him to a more accessible spot to hoist him aboard the helicopter and transport him to the Belluno hospital.
