The search is still ongoing for the 9-year-old Moroccan girl who disappeared this afternoon in the waters of Lake Como in front of the public gardens of the Larian capital.

Firefighter divers, who arrived by helicopter from Malpensa Airport, are leading the rescue operations. The girl's parents were taken to the police station.

The little girl disappeared underwater while playing with some of her peers a few meters from the shore, at a spot where the ground drops off precipitously and which had already caused other drownings in the past.
