The young Italian woman, who was admitted yesterday in very serious conditions after the avalanche in the Ridanna Valley , died during the night in Innsbruck hospital.
The victim is Laura Santino, 26, a resident of Vestone, in the province of Brescia. This brings the death toll from the avalanche on Cima d'Incendio to three dead and five injured, which killed a total of 25 ski mountaineers who were on the slope at the time.
The alarm was raised at 11:40 a.m. At that time, numerous groups were on the slope of the mountain, whose summit is 2,445 meters above sea level, not far from another peak, Tallone Grande.
The avalanche, with a 150-meter front and a length of several hundred meters, started near the summit and set in motion practically the entire slope, which is quite steep at that point, involving the ski mountaineers, most of whom fortunately were only grazed and not swallowed up by the mass of snow.
