"I have instructed the competent offices to start an in-depth investigation into the case of the refusal of 31 high schools to accept a boy with severe forms of autism. Italian schools have the duty to be inclusive for all students, without distinction."

Thus said the Minister of Education and Merit Giuseppe Valditara , regarding the affair – reported by Corriere Milano – which apparently involved the son of a couple resident in the Lombard capital.

"It is intolerable - added Valditara - that episodes like this happen in an educational system that must guarantee the right to education to each student, regardless of their condition . We are committed - concluded the minister - to finding an adequate solution".
