Tragedy struck last night in Massa , where a 47-year-old man, Giacomo Bongiorni, died in front of his 11-year-old son after an assault.
The tragedy occurred in Piazza Felice Palma, shortly after 1:00 a.m. The man, approached by four or five people during the attack, according to initial reports , fell, hit his head, and went into cardiac arrest.
The 118 paramedics intervened and performed extensive resuscitation on the man, but in the end they could do nothing but confirm his death.
According to reports, Bongiorni allegedly asked some young people to stop throwing glasses at a shop window: in response, he was pushed or hit, falling violently to the ground.
The attackers fled immediately after the incident. The Carabinieri are investigating.
