The alarm went off only this morning. A fellow soldier saw the body of Andrea Fagiani, commander of the “Mario Barbera” ammunition and explosives depot, under a forklift that had overturned. A tragedy that occurred yesterday in the hamlet of Nera Montoro in Narni, in the province of Terni, and only discovered today.
The 49-year-old, originally from Fonte Nuova (Rome) and decorated for civilian value, had been dead for several hours, the 118 health workers arrived immediately on the spot, to no avail. Investigations were initiated by the Prosecutor's Office and also by the Ministry of Defense.
Pheasants, known not only for his blasting skills but also for serving in Africa, was married and father of two.
Condolence was expressed by Minister Lorenzo Guerini: "While waiting for the investigations of the Provincial Command of the Carabinieri of Terni and the local prosecutor to clarify the dynamics of the dramatic accident, today the Defense mourns the loss of a member of his family", said the minister.
