Two members of the National Association of Italian Partisans (ANPI), wearing partisan scarves around their necks , were attacked in Rome while they were looking for a bar in Via delle Sette Chiese, a short distance from the square where the Liberation Day demonstration was taking place.

According to an initial reconstruction, a man riding a scooter, wearing a full-face helmet and a military-colored jacket, suddenly stopped, pulled out a BB gun, and fired at the couple . The husband and wife were hit in the neck and cheek, respectively, and the wife in the shoulder. Both sustained wounds with blood loss. Neither is seriously injured , the ANPI later explained. They are undergoing treatment and "are fine." But, they add, "what happened is extremely serious."

Tensions also erupted in Milan during the April 25th march. " One person told us, 'You're just bad soap,' " Democratic Party representative Emanuele Fiano reported, speaking of the protests directed at the Jewish Brigade by some pro-Palestinian demonstrators . Boos and insults were heard in the section of the demonstration where Luciano Belli Paci was also present, under the protection of a large contingent of law enforcement.

"These are the times. I had already expressed my concerns to the prefect and the police commissioner," said Mayor Giuseppe Sala, leading the procession to Piazza Duomo. "There's not much to be surprised about; I honestly expected it. It's also an organizational issue, but I can't comment on it." The mayor then emphasized the increasingly heated atmosphere : "Phrases like 'you deserve to be soap bars' were shouted. It's a shame, because April 25th is a very important moment. Perhaps we should stop calling it a celebration: it's an opportunity for reflection, commitment, and responsibility. But all of this is, in part, being lost."
