A 16-year-old boy was stabbed several times in the back last night in one of Genoa's nightlife areas , Stradone Sant'Agostino, in the historic center of the Ligurian capital.

The boy was transferred to San Martino Hospital in critical condition, but his life is not in danger . Passersby raised the alarm after hearing the victim cry for help. In addition to medical assistance from 118, Carabinieri and police arrived on the scene. Footage from city surveillance cameras was acquired to verify the facts, as well as some testimonies from young people present in the square.

The statements of the injured, conscious man, and of the other young people present, have not allowed investigators to reconstruct the motive for the attack or identify the alleged perpetrator. The investigation continues, hoping that the surveillance footage will reveal more.

An incident that rekindles the spotlight on the knife crisis among young people . Just a week ago, also in Genoa, a 15-year-old was arrested for stabbing a 14-year-old boy in the chest and stomach.
