Alberto Stasi is preparing to leave prison: after the hearing held in great secrecy this afternoon, he is awaiting the order from the Surveillance Court that will order his probation to social services at the company where he has worked for some time .
The order is expected to be filed within five days: the Attorney General's Office, headed by Francesca Nanni and Deputy Attorney General Valeria Marino, has issued a favorable opinion based on his good conduct as a prisoner, including in semi-liberty, over recent years, and the positive reports from the Bollate prison team. This opinion, combined with the timeframe (sentence ends in 2028, having been detained since 2015 with a definitive 16-year sentence for the Garlasco crime) and the benefits already obtained (first external work and then semi-liberty), almost automatically leads to his probation to serve out the remainder of his sentence.
Stasi has been held in semi-liberty for some time. Chiara Poggi's boyfriend, sentenced to 16 years for the Garlasco crime, could therefore be released from Bollate prison after 10 years and 6 months .
Just after the Pavia Prosecutor's Office closed the new investigation into Sempio's murder, which occurred on August 13, 2007. The granting of probation seems a given, but it is clarified that it is not related to the possible review of his trial , for which the defense will file a request. The Prosecutor General's Office, which approved his release, is also currently evaluating the request for a review of the trial.
Stasi, who has always maintained his innocence, will not return to Garlasco, according to a report by Tg La7, but to a rented house near Milan . He will take only his clothes with him but will leave some belongings for the other inmates, including a refrigerator and a fan.
