Immediately after the wedding reception they packed their bags and left for their honeymoon. Without paying the bill at the restaurant, a typical place in Ciociaria between Veroli and Boville Ernica where the couple had gathered around seventy friends and relatives to celebrate the wedding.

He is a 40-year-old local construction contractor, she is 25, has a Polish passport but has lived in Rome for a long time.

They had optioned the date for months and agreed on the fish-based menu after the bride and his parents had tested it. After the test, they had also sent a deposit of a few hundred euros out of a total of 8 thousand to be paid, drinks included.

The balance, they agreed, would arrive on the Wednesday following the wedding. But that day the groom didn't show up, the restaurant owners waited for him until late in the evening and tried to call him, without receiving an answer. They were therefore able to trace the parents, still no response.

So they turned to the police and reported him. The soldiers from the Ferentino barracks quickly reconstructed the movements: the spouses took the plane with his parents and landed in Frankfurt, and then perhaps continued towards Poland, where his in-laws live.
