A 55-year-old woman was stabbed in the face this morning on Via Grassini, in the northern suburbs of Milan. She was taken to Niguarda Hospital in critical condition, with stab wounds to her legs and arms. Her prognosis is guarded.

The investigation was entrusted to local police officers who set out to track down the attacker, the ex-husband.

The suspect, Luigi Morcaldi, 62, was found this afternoon and taken into custody by officers. He was in Parco Nord.

The woman was found on the street, near the entrance to a house, and local police officers are reconstructing whether the attack occurred there or elsewhere by interviewing witnesses and acquiring footage from surveillance cameras in the area.
