An 18-month-old boy is in serious condition after being hit by an accidentally fired gunshot .
The episode happened last night in Pomigliano D'Arco , near Naples, and the little boy was transported to the Santobono hospital with a gunshot wound to the abdomen.
The shot was accidentally fired from a 6.35 caliber Beretta legally held by the grandfather of the little boy, who is now hospitalized in intensive care with a reserved prognosis .
The child underwent major surgery overnight. His conditions are serious but stable, and the next 24-48 hours, according to the doctors who are treating him, will be decisive.
The position of the grandfather is being examined by the investigators of the Flying Squad, even if at the moment there are no doubts about the accidental nature of the episode.
