Some have called it a "Christmas miracle." It's certainly an extraordinary coincidence, with a happy ending.

The story centers on two protagonists: a Sardinian girl on a business trip to Rimini and a teacher at the Malatesta hotel management school in the Romagna city.

And these are the facts, reported by Rimini Today and then by other local newspapers: the young woman loses a bag containing a large sum of money and some documents on the street. The teacher finds it . What happens next is incredible: the teacher goes to the Carabinieri to hand in the bag and at the station encounters the young woman, who—desperate—had also gone to the police to report the loss.

And here's the happy ending: the The precious bag was returned right in the barracks, in front of the Christmas tree set up by the men of the Carabinieri in the atrium, complete with a souvenir photo of the two women.

"He couldn't stop thanking me," said the teacher, Caterina Bonazza, originally from Ferrara. "It was almost touching. We hugged . Honesty has always been a cornerstone of my life: whatever we do, good or bad, sooner or later comes back to us. So I'm very happy to have been able to help others with a small gesture."

The Malatesta Institute also remembered this gesture with a post on its Facebook profile: "A huge round of applause for our Professor Caterina Bonazza for her act of honesty and solidarity! Honesty is a fundamental value. As an institution, we are proud to have teachers who, in addition to imparting knowledge, daily exemplify ethics, solidarity, and compassion for others. Her action reminds us that, even today, human values and good citizenship are more alive than ever. A gesture that goes beyond the call of duty and warms the heart."
