It looked like a scooter, but it actually drove like a high-powered motorcycle. The Ancona local police officers couldn't believe their eyes when the speedometer read over 100 kilometers per hour.

It happened during the first checks regarding the new license plate requirement, which came into force on May 16th. The identification tag —a non-removable 50x60 mm sticker with three letters and three numbers—is now mandatory for all e-scooters. The vehicle was immediately stopped and seized. Analysis confirmed the suspicions: the scooter had been rigged, transformed into an illegal vehicle that sped at highway speeds. A concrete danger to the rider and anyone in its path. Local police also issued 15 fines, each €70, for missing license plates.

The municipal administration and local police had anticipated the obligation with a multilingual flyer distributed throughout the city, to inform especially foreign workers who use scooters for daily transportation.
