A tragic road accident occurred in the early hours of this morning, Saturday, June 27, on the A14 motorway, at km 1, between Bologna Borgo Panigale and the junction with the A1 Milan-Naples motorway, heading towards Bologna.
A minivan overturned, for reasons yet to be determined and without involving other vehicles. A 24-year-old Egyptian woman lost her life, and her six-month-old son, who was in her arms, is in critical condition. The baby was thrown down the embankment and fell approximately three meters .
The vehicle was carrying a family of six people of Egyptian origin. Two other children, aged 10 and 12, suffered moderate injuries, while two men, aged 48 and 55, are in serious condition .
Emergency medical services and traffic police were on the scene, and the road was closed for about an hour. It's still unclear why the vehicle overturned after a sudden skid: drivers may have fallen asleep at the wheel or been distracted.
