A fifteen-year-old from Verzuolo (Cuneo) died today after feeling ill while in the pool at a campsite in Finale Ligure. The boy was in the town in the province of Savona with his youth soccer team. According to initial reports, some of the team members entered the pool after lunch. When the fifteen-year-old felt ill, his classmates immediately raised the alarm.
Paramedics from the Croce Bianca of Finale Ligure arrived on the scene and performed extensive resuscitation efforts. The boy was a member of the Olimpic Saluzzo Under-15 team. The sports club expressed its condolences for the incident.
The players' return home has been arranged. A local family has provided accommodation to allow the fifteen-year-old's parents to stay in Liguria as long as necessary.
