The 7-year-old boy who was involved in a serious accident at a swimming pool in Giffoni Valle Piana (Salerno) on Thursday died. The child fell into the water and swallowed a large amount of water. It's unclear whether he was taken ill. Rescued by 118 paramedics, he was airlifted to Santobono Hospital, where, after two days of hospitalization, his heart stopped beating.
The Carabinieri of the Battipaglia branch are investigating the case. Montecorvino Pugliano, the town where the child is from, is deeply saddened. "With deep emotion and great sadness, I join in the grief of the family of the child who tragically passed away after the accident that occurred a few days ago in a swimming pool in Campigliano," Mayor Martino D'Onofrio wrote on social media.
