A dog in distress, stopped on the side of Provincial Road 27, in the Lodi area, near Castel Gerundo. The animal attracted the attention of a 54-year-old biologist passing by, who slowed her pace. Then, when she saw the man accompanying him, almost hidden in the tall grass, she assumed it was an emergency and stopped, getting out of the car to offer assistance.

She didn't imagine that this gesture of solidarity would cost her dearly. The man asked her for money, she gave him a few bills, which clearly weren't enough, and he stabbed her twice in the abdomen and once in the arm , then fled into the surrounding countryside.

The woman's condition is very serious and has deteriorated further as the hours have passed. Rescued by a passerby, she was taken by air ambulance to the Spedali Civili hospital in Brescia.

The Carabinieri, who were able to speak briefly with the victim, launched a manhunt. The knife was found in the ditch next to the provincial road, at the scene of the attack.
