A woman in her 20s was attacked yesterday evening while alone in Largo San Tommaso d'Aquino, in the historic center of Salerno. The incident occurred around 9:30 PM. The young woman was rescued and taken to the hospital with critical injuries.

However, her condition is not thought to be life-threatening. A passerby raised the alarm after reporting the injured girl.

According to initial information gathered by police, the 20-year-old, who lives in the province of Salerno, was attacked from behind by an unknown assailant. Investigators are currently investigating the exact circumstances of the attack and identifying the perpetrator.
