A 36-year-old Italian man with a criminal record was arrested by the Carabinieri in San Donato Milanese, where the attack occurred a few days ago. Information provided by the young woman, who allegedly attempted to rob her at knifepoint , was crucial to the man's identification.

The man, who is now being held in San Vittore by order of the investigating judge of the Milan Court, is charged with sexual assault, attempted aggravated robbery, and possession of weapons or objects capable of causing offence.
