A 17-year-old boy was hit and killed around 4 a.m. on Via Torre Mileto in San Nicandro Garganico (Foggia) while walking home from a birthday party with some friends.
The group was at a curve about a kilometer from the town center when a car, driven by another partygoer, struck them head-on. Emergency responders arrived on the scene and attempted to save the boy , but were unsuccessful. Law enforcement is investigating.
The victim's family is well-known in the area. His father is a labor consultant, while his mother is a teacher.
