A 16-year-old boy was attacked Friday morning during physical activity at a high school in the Teramo area, according to the newspaper "Il Centro."
According to the school principal, a group of two or three students approached the boy while he was playing sports and one of them slapped him in the face.
The sixteen-year-old suffered a fractured cheekbone. Rescued by 118, he was transferred to Pescara Hospital, where he underwent surgery. The alleged perpetrator has been suspended.
A teacher also reportedly witnessed the incident. Carabinieri officers arrived on the scene and interviewed students and teachers to reconstruct the incident. The school informed the victim's family of the attack and, after an internal investigation, initiated disciplinary proceedings against the alleged perpetrator, resulting in a 15-day suspension.
"These incidents definitely shouldn't happen at school," the principal commented, emphasizing how violence can be a sign of distress among adolescents and stressing the need to address conflicts through dialogue. The school has long had initiatives to prevent and combat bullying and cyberbullying, as well as meetings with the Carabinieri on issues of legality and violence prevention.
