He killed his wife and then attempted suicide by cutting his wrists with a knife . It happened this morning shortly before 7 in Ripaberarda (Ascoli Piceno) .

The victim of the femicide is Emanuela Massicci, 45 years old . Her husband, Massimo Malavolta, 48 years old, is a factory worker in the industrial area of Ascoli Piceno. He is currently under arrest, guarded in the hospital where he is hospitalized but not in danger of life.

At the time of the tragedy , the couple's children, aged 5 and 10, were also present in the house . They were taken in by their maternal grandparents, who apparently did not witness the attack but were the ones who opened the door to the 118 operators and the firefighters. Once the two children were safe, the firefighters had to force open the bedroom door, which was locked from the inside, where they found the man sitting on the bed, bloody and with a knife in his hand, and his wife, Emanuela Massicci, lying down and motionless. The carabinieri disarmed the man. The victim had numerous swellings on his face and in various parts of his body, and from the very first checks he did not have any vital injuries from knife blows . The causes of death and the accurate description and origin of the injuries will then be ascertained by the autopsy.

The murderer himself raised the alarm, calling his family members who immediately alerted 112. From what has emerged, the relationship between the husband and wife had not been good for some time.

Dismay among the inhabitants of the hamlet of Castignano, 900 inhabitants. Some today say that Malavolta "should have been stopped earlier" . Because it is true that there had been no complaints from the woman, nor reports or interventions by the police to quell arguments, but the man in June 2015 had been placed under house arrest for aggravated assault and stalking against another woman. In 2016 he was sentenced to two years of imprisonment, while still under house arrest. Sentence that was reformed by the Court of Appeal of Ancona which had issued a sentence for harassment of 6 months and 20 days with suspended sentence.
