The two uncles of the four-year-old girl who died in Tufino, in the Naples area , during the night between 13 and 14 December 2024 have been arrested on charges of aggravated homicide .

The two, to whom the little girl had been temporarily entrusted by social services after the biological parents' parental rights were suspended, were immediately investigated for mistreatment and manslaughter after signs of burns were found on the little girl's body.

The initial hypothesis was that the little girl had died from a fall down the stairs, but the investigation revealed a picture of abandonment and violence.

The investigation, conducted by the Carabinieri of Nola with the involvement of the RIS of Rome, revealed that the child was the victim of severe malnutrition. This, according to the Nola prosecutor in charge of the investigation, led to profound physical decline, "to the point of cachexia, which led to death. This, combined with other concurrent trauma suffered by the child, including severe burns, bedsores, and a fracture , contributed to the onset of a serious lung condition ."

The little girl's uncles are now accused of all of this and have been taken to prison by the Carabinieri pursuant to a precautionary measure issued by the investigating judge at the request of the public prosecutor.
