35-year-old man arrested for hiding 66 kilos of cocaine and weapons in garage

A 35-year-old man, already known to law enforcement, was arrested this morning by the Carabinieri in Rome in conjunction with the Public Prosecutor's Office . The man, who faces charges of possession of drugs and illegal weapons with removed serial numbers and receiving stolen goods, was found to be hiding 66 kilos of cocaine and one kilo of pink cocaine in his garage. Two pistols and ammunition were also seized.
The facility was monitored by a video surveillance system.
The discovery was made after officers noticed the man's suspicious behavior at the sight of a patrol. A subsequent search and personal search, including the home and the vehicle parked inside the garage, with the assistance of the canine unit, led to the discovery of cocaine, divided into 66 1-kg packages, as well as 1 kg of pink cocaine divided into two 0.5-kg packages, a 90-gram package of hashish, and six 100-gram packages of marijuana . €54,170 in cash, believed to be the proceeds of drug dealing , was also found. Five cell phones and a ledger with figures, numbers, and accounts were also found, as well as various equipment for cutting, weighing, and packaging drugs, a vacuum packing machine, and a money counting machine.
The two pistols seized are a Hege Waffen West Germany, caliber 7.65 with the serial number erased, including a magazine with 5 rounds, and a Beretta, caliber 7.65 with the serial number erased, including two magazines with 6 rounds and an additional 5 rounds of military-type ammunition.
After his arrest, the 35-year-old was taken to Regina Coeli prison at the disposal of the judicial authorities, while the drugs and all the material found by the Carabinieri were seized.
The Rome Court validated the arrest.
