A "serial" rapist , with a life in and out of prison that has not led him to stop , on the contrary. This is how Massimiliano Mulas can be described, the 45-year-old of Sardinian origins arrested in Mestre after raping an 11-year-old girl in the entrance hall of a house .

Of Sardinian blood but born in Germany in Bruchsal, a German town in the state of Baden-Württemberg , he had been noticed since a young age for his temperament : in 1998 in Villanova Tulo , at just 19 years old, he had cut off the head of a dog and had left it for a girl to find in a detergent drum together with a letter in which he asked for 300 thousand lire, threatening, otherwise, that she would suffer the same end as the animal.

Already then, while the young man was in prison in Buoncammino, an aunt from Villanova Tulo told Unione Sarda: "He was in juvenile prison and cannot set foot in Germany again. He was my guest for months, then I had to say enough : the Municipality helped him, making him work on a construction site, but every night he transformed and did strange things at home and outside, I saw him lose all control and I fear that sooner or later his outbursts of violence will end in tragedy ."

In Veneto in 2006 the 45-year-old had already received a heavy eight-year sentence for raping, or attempting to rape, two female students in the Padua area. And with the same modus operandi that was used in the latest rape: the young victim returned home, was blocked at the entrance to the house and sexually assaulted. And again, at that time he had just finished serving a four-and-a-half-year sentence for robbery and sexual assault against a tourist on vacation in Pieve di Cavalese, in Trentino . A few years ago another rape was contested in Perugia.
Having paid his debts to justice, Mulas spent the Covid period in Sardinia , at his mother's house, and then started traveling again. Followed for a period by social services, he was in Perugia, Turin and then in Veneto.

On Monday, April 14, there will be the interrogation to validate the arrest in front of the investigating judge Alberto Scaramuzza . "My client - anticipates the lawyer Ignazio Ballai of the Cagliari court, who has assumed his defense - will avail himself of the right to remain silent. When I see the papers, I will evaluate the defense strategy".
