A 10-year-old boy admitted to the Bambino Gesù children's hospital died of Covid.
The Covid Crisis Unit of the Lazio Region together with the hospital where all the serious cases of Covid in the pediatric age of the regional territory end up in a joint note.
The child, from Pomezia, was hospitalized since January 31 and had another "important" disease.
"Deep condolences for the death of a 10-year-old child hospitalized for Covid in a critical area at the Bambino Gesù pediatric hospital", reads the note.
“The little patient from Pomezia, hospitalized since January 31, had an important comorbidity, unfortunately compromised in a decisive way by the SarsCov2 infection. Proximity to the family from health professionals and institutions and a warm appeal to continue the anti-Covid vaccination of children and young people to protect everyone, even the most fragile, from the risks of the disease ".
From what is learned, the child had another "challenging base disease, but he was not hospitalized for that reason". The progression of the Covid disease has brought him to a critical area and, unfortunately, would have compromised the situation. The child was a so-called fragile patient, but the death was due to Covid, "for nothing else", it is specified.
