It was a memorable European night for two of the Italian cup teams. Bologna earned a valuable Europa League victory, winning 2-1 at FCSB in Bucharest, while Fiorentina dominated the Conference League with a resounding 3-0 victory at Rapid Vienna.

In Romania, Italiano's team started strongly: after just a few minutes, Odgaard broke the deadlock with a precise finish, and just three minutes later Dallinga doubled the lead, giving the Rossoblu a 2-0 lead. In the second half, FCSB attempted to respond and closed the gap with Birligea, but Bologna held firm and took home three crucial points for their group standings.

In Vienna, however, Pioli's Fiorentina dominated from start to finish. They took the lead in the first half thanks to the young Ndour, then Dzeko doubled the lead with a masterful strike early in the second half. In the dying seconds, Gudmundsson sealed the 3-0 lead, sealing a match that was never really in doubt.

However, things didn't go well for Roma, who lost 2-1 at home to Viktoria Plzen.
