The women's short track relay team (Chiara Betti, Elisa Confortola, Arianna Fontana, Gloria Ioriatti, Arianna Sighel) won silver in the 3000-meter final. The Koreans took gold, while the Canadian team took third and bronze.
A splendid podium finish for the Italian women, achieved under the watchful eye of Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, who arrived at the Skating Ice Arena in Milan for the final. The icing on the cake was this silver medal, bringing Arianna Fontana's total to 14 Olympic medals , surpassing fencer Edoardo Mangiarotti's record of 13 and becoming the most successful Italian athlete ever at the Olympics.
In the men's short track , Pietro Sighel was disappointed, having been knocked out of the 500m final after a collision. The Italian finished with the lowest time, and the referee did not issue a penalty to his opponent, prompting boos and discontent among the crowd at the Milan Arena.
