Boos for the Israeli anthem broke out from the stands at the Udine stadium before kickoff for Italy-Israel, a World Cup qualifier. Around 10,000 spectators were in attendance, some of whom responded with applause.

Outside, in the city centre, the pro-PAL demonstration took place, where there was no shortage of tension with the police .

Upon reaching Piazza Primo Maggio, the arrival point of the march, some of the protesters attempted to break through the police cordon to continue on, intending to reach the stadium . Once pushed back, the protesters headed for another possible crossing point. Firecrackers were thrown at the police. Law enforcement responded with a cordon of riot police, water cannons, and tear gas . Some protesters also raised barriers to attack police armored vehicles. Law enforcement officers in riot gear, armed with batons and shields, responded by pushing them back.

Clashes broke out at the end of a peaceful march: most of the protesters remained in Piazza Primo Maggio, the march's arrival point.

A journalist was seriously injured during the stone-throwing : the reporter suffered "a significant head injury" for which he was first taken into care by ambulance staff and then "emergencyly transferred to hospital".
