Regulation time ended 1-1 between Napoli and Cagliari in the Coppa Italia round of 16. Sebastiano Esposito equalized in the 67th minute, assisted by Borrelli. The goal was deserved given the Rossoblu's quality play in the second half.

Napoli returned to the locker room leading 1-0 after a commanding first half. The team imposed its tempo right from the start, managing possession with order and gradually pushing Cagliari back into their own half.

The only disciplinary incident came in the 18th minute, when Luperto received a yellow card for a late tackle.

The Neapolitans' territorial dominance finally came to fruition in the 28th minute: a well-constructed move down the right, Vergara found space and delivered a precise cross into the box for Lucca, who beat his marker and beat Caprile with a powerful header. It was a deserved lead for the Azzurri, who continued to control the pace without taking any risks.

On the other end, Cagliari struggled to get past the midfield and never managed to threaten : Milinkovic-Savic remained virtually inactive for the entire 46 minutes. Napoli were solid, organized, and always in control; the Rossoblu were timid and lacking in impact.
