After the resounding success of the sensational "Spider Man: Into the Spider Verse" - a very successful animated film experiment produced by Sony Pictures, considered by many to be the best big screen transposition of Spider-Man ever made - its highly anticipated sequel - " Spider Man: Across the Spider Verse” – released in theaters on June 1st is achieving dizzying numbers at the box office, and with its second weekend of release in Italian theaters it takes first place in the box office rankings.

Although it needed a week more than its release to reach the top of the charts, the film also stood out for being able to reverse the American trend by beating the numbers of its rival "Transformers: the Awakening" and even exceeding 4 million of revenues with 936,000 euros earned in the weekend alone. A success of this magnitude also marks the third-largest opening weekend ever for a film starring the well-known New York superhero.

In second position we have the last chapter of the explosive and adrenaline saga of "Transformers", released in Italy on June 7th. Screened in 416 theaters, it brought home the figure of 1.1 million receipts. A not exactly exciting sum on balance, which however would seem destined to rise in the coming weeks considering that the brand's titles generally collect 70% of the earnings on foreign markets. The total receipts of the film are currently around 170.5 million dollars.

The live action remake of the Disney classic "The Little Mermaid" - starring Halle Bailey, praised by the critics for her performance, and among the other performers also Melissa McCarthey and Javier Bardem - drops back two steps and goes to third position, winning 894,000 euros in the last week and exceeding 10 million euros overall in three weeks.

A clear slowdown also arrives for "Fast X" - the most recent chapter of the "Fast & Furious" saga with Vin Diesel still in the guise of Dom Toretto and an unprecedented villain played by Jason Momoa - which after four weeks is placed fourth and earns an additional €251,000 for a total of €11.3 million. Nonetheless, the film cannot be considered a success in all respects, managing to exceed the target figure of 650 million dollars worldwide just four weeks after its debut.

Returning in grand style from Cannes, in fifth position we finally find "Rapito" , an all-Italian work by the master Marco Bellocchio which tells the chilling chronicle episode of the kidnapping of Edgardo Mortara, a Bolognese child of a Jewish family, by the will of the Catholic Church . With an additional €160,000, the film reaches 1.3 million in total takings.
