For some days the shipping companies Moby and Tirrenia have imposed a ban on the boarding, to and from Sardinia, of farm animals destined for the equestrian and livestock sector.

Only pets such as dogs and cats can board the ferries.

The case ended in Parliament, with M5S deputy Alberto Manca, of the Agriculture Committee, speaking of a decision "which risks having very serious repercussions on some of the main productive sectors of the island and which actually damages the activities of many companies sardines ".

In a question to the Ministers of Health and Transport (Roberto Speranza and Enrico Giovannini), the Sardinian deputy asked to "immediately identify a solution that would allow farm animals to be transported safely on ships even in the summer, without creating further difficulties for Sardinian entrepreneurs and farmers already severely affected by the emergencies that agriculture is still facing ".

The decision of the two companies is probably linked to the fact that four horses died a couple of years ago from excessive heat in the ferry garage.
