In the dietary supplement market, the word "quality" appears almost everywhere. Precisely for this reason, it's worth looking at the facts: where the raw materials come from, where and how a supplement is produced, who verifies the batches, and what consumers think.
BIOGENA, a family-owned Austrian company, offers several solid foundations for its assessment. To understand whether the label BIOGENA is truly high-quality premium supplements , it's worth taking a closer look at the company, its production methods, its most recent awards, and three new products that clearly summarize its approach.
A family business with a holistic vision of well-being
BIOGENA is headquartered in Salzburg and Vienna, with additional locations in Germany, Great Britain, and the United States. For over twenty years, the company, led by founder Dr. Albert Schmidbauer, has pursued a holistic vision of well-being that combines scientific foundations, consistent quality, and responsible sourcing of raw materials.
Today, BIOGENA employs 500 people and has a network of over 30,000 doctors and therapists. It serves over one million customers in over 90 countries, and more than 500,000 people are members of the BIOGENA club. These numbers reflect a brand that has grown far beyond Austria's borders.
In-house production: quality begins just outside Salzburg.
One of BIOGENA's distinguishing features is its in-house production. The supplements are created at the BIOGENA Good Health World in Koppl, near Salzburg, where up to 1.5 billion capsules are produced each year. Despite the volumes, the manufacturing process remains the same: every step, from the selection of raw materials to research and development, to the finished product, is transparent and traceable.
The controls don't stop at the factory. Every single batch is independently analyzed by the German LEFO institute, and production is certified according to the FSSC 22000 food safety standard. The raw materials are branded ingredients sourced from leading global suppliers.
Added to this is the principle of pure substances, which BIOGENA applies to the over 300 formulations in its range: no unnecessary additives, no titanium dioxide, GMOs, nanoparticles, magnesium stearate, or artificial colors or flavors. This approach makes labels easier to read and is summarized in the company motto, "Austrian Science inside."
The quality awards given to BIOGENA in 2026
Seven first places at the MARKET Markttest 2026
The most recent recognition comes from the MARKET Markttest "Immunsystemstärker 2026," a study dedicated to immune system supplement brands. The study was conducted by the MARKET Institute between March and April 2026 through an online survey of 1,000 people, a representative sample of the Austrian population aged 16 and over. BIOGENA ranked first in seven categories: top brand, likeability, trust, relevance to Austria, crisis stability, innovation, and willingness to recommend.
Some values stand out. Among users, BIOGENA achieved a 47% recommendation rate, the highest in the ranking, while its 42% rating for likeability is the best in the industry. These top scores are complemented by top-three placements in four other categories, including social responsibility and sustainability. The brand also ranks among the top five across all 15 dimensions analyzed.
For Julia Hoffmann, COO of BIOGENA, the results confirm that the company is associated not only with product quality, but also with trust, innovation, and responsibility. In a sensitive area like the immune system, she emphasizes, it's crucial that people can trust a brand over the long term.
Marken-Monitor and Familien-Award: The ÖGVS evaluations
Further confirmation comes from the Austrian Brand Monitor: CUSTOMER CHAMPIONS 2026. In this survey, the brand's supplements won two awards: Top Customer Satisfaction and Top Quality.
The Austrian Family Award 2026 – Best Offers for Families – also achieved noteworthy results. BIOGENA took first place in the "Tolerability" category and earned an "Excellent" rating in the quality and overall satisfaction categories.
Both awards are based on independent studies conducted by ÖGVS – Gesellschaft für Verbraucherstudien mbH, an Austrian research institute specializing in consumer research. The judgment is therefore based on a direct comparison: the sample of respondents was asked to express their opinions on multiple industry players.
The new BIOGENA PLAZA in Munich
The fact that BIOGENA sees well-being as something more than just a single supplement is also demonstrated by the new BIOGENA PLAZA in Maximiliansplatz, in the heart of Munich, which will officially open its doors in September 2026.
The PLAZAs expand the brand's offerings with services dedicated to longevity and biohacking. In Munich, the program includes cryotherapy, IHHT training, bone density training, red light therapy, lymphatic drainage, and hyperbaric oxygen training. The format is already available in other cities: in Düsseldorf, for example, BIOGENA has been operating a PLAZA spanning over 1,000 square meters on Königsallee since the end of 2025.
The new opening is part of a comprehensive health concept, in which micronutrients, diagnostics, longevity services, and the educational offerings of the BIOGENA ACADEMY complement each other.
BIOGENA's commitment to quality supplements
The way BIOGENA translates this approach into individual products is clearly evident in three new products designed for very different needs: days of intense mental effort, legs tested by the daily routine, and sports training.
1. Magnesium L-threonate Magtein®
Magnesium is among the best-known minerals, but not all its forms are created equal. Magtein® magnesium L-threonate stands out for this very reason: it is magnesium bound to L-threonic acid, a vitamin C metabolite, obtained through a multi-step manufacturing process starting from vitamin C and magnesium carbonate.
The difference compared to conventional magnesium supplements lies in their formulation. The latter primarily aim to compensate for a deficiency of the macronutrient; magnesium L-threonate, on the other hand, focuses on magnesium's role in the brain. It's no coincidence that this form is attracting growing interest in neuroscience and cognitive research, which has focused, among other things, on its ability to cross the blood-brain barrier.
Nutritionally, magnesium contributes to the normal functioning of the nervous system, normal psychological function, and the reduction of tiredness and fatigue. BIOGENA uses the original branded ingredient Magtein®, with 155 mg of magnesium per daily dose. The 180-capsule pack lasts 60 days; the formula is vegan, lactose-free, and gluten-free, and is ideal for those facing important decisions, long periods of study, or a particularly busy daily life.
2. VenoPrime® – Venous Complex
Long hours at a desk, standing shifts, car or plane journeys, and hot days: these are all situations that put more strain on the legs and venous system than usual. For these very times, BIOGENA has developed VenoPrime® – Venous Complex , a premium complex of micronutrients and plant extracts.
The formula's strength lies in its breadth. It's based on a complex of diosmin and hesperidin (DiosVein®), complemented by red vine leaf extract (VinOleaf™), OPC from grape seed extract, horse chestnut extract (Venocin®), and butcher's broom root extract.
The composition is completed by vitamin C, manganese, copper, and vitamin B6, micronutrients with very specific functions: vitamin C contributes to normal collagen formation for the normal function of blood vessels, copper to the maintenance of normal connective tissue, and manganese to the normal formation of connective tissue. Vitamin B6 contributes to normal energy-yielding metabolism.
What makes VenoPrime® special is this synergistic combination: instead of relying on a single active ingredient, it combines standardized plant extracts and micronutrients in a single premium formula, available in a pack of 60 capsules.
3. BIOGANA Sports – Power³ Hybrid
BIOGENA Sports – Power³ Hybrid belongs to a new generation of functional sports nutrition, developed for ambitious athletes and those who want to get more out of their training. Targeted disciplines include Hyrox, CrossFit, functional fitness, and team sports.
The formula is based on three complementary ingredient systems. The first is creatine: each serving provides 5 g of creatine monohydrate, and creatine increases physical performance during high-intensity, repeated, and short-duration exercises.
The second is TriBsyn™, an innovative controlled-release beta-alanine technology. The more gradual release ensures better tolerability than conventional beta-alanine and is specifically designed to reduce the typical tingling sensation that many athletes associate with the classic form. According to the manufacturer, the technology also offers greater bioavailability.
The third pillar is PeptiStrong®, a peptide-based ingredient derived from a fava bean protein hydrolysate, included as an integral part of the product's performance and recovery concept.
Particularly interesting is the stimulant-free approach. Power³ Hybrid doesn't rely on the immediate effect typical of many pre-workouts, but is designed as a daily supplement, even on rest days. The product is vegan, available in convenient sticks, and is listed in the Cologne List®, the database of supplements analyzed for the presence of doping substances.
A premium brand that can be verified
At BIOGENA, quality isn't just a superficial statement, it's based on concrete, verifiable elements: in-house production just outside Salzburg, independent testing of every single batch by the LEFO institute, FSSC 22000 certification, and the pure substances principle applied to over 300 products.
The same approach is found in the three new products. Magtein®, VenoPrime®, and Power³ Hybrid address different needs and audiences, but they share a precise criterion: carefully researched and documented branded ingredients, clearly stated dosages, and the absence of unnecessary additives. It is on this basis, rather than on the promises, that a supplement can be evaluated.
Added to these factors is consumer experience: the seven first-place finishes in the MARKET Markttest 2026 and the ÖGVS ratings paint a picture of high trust, perceived quality, and tolerability. Taken together, these aspects help explain BIOGENA's positioning in the premium segment and its growing availability to the Italian public, who can purchase the entire range through the company's Italian shop.
As with any dietary supplement, BIOGENA products are not a substitute for a varied and balanced diet or a healthy lifestyle. If you have any questions about taking them or have specific needs, it is always best to consult your doctor or pharmacist.
