Esperia closes its strengthening campaign with a bang in view of the debut in the Serie B Interregional championship. The Monte Mixi club signs the expert forward/pivot Stefano Spizzichini , a 33-year-old Roman with important backgrounds both in Serie A (Montegranaro and Avellino) and in Serie A2 (Agropoli, Recanati, Trapani, Scafati, Naples and Ravenna among others). In the national B, however, the new grenade player has always played in teams that aimed to jump in category, such as Fortitudo Bologna, Rieti and Mestre. In the last season, on the other hand, he was with Viola Reggio Calabria , a fallen nobleman of Italian basketball, with whom he averaged 13 points and over 8 rebounds , confirming himself among the most solid and performing big men in the national third division.
Well gifted in terms of athleticism and physicality, Spizzichini is a skilled scorer both on the discharges and in one on one from the low post. His arrival represents the icing on the cake of an ambitious market : the Esperine management, in fact, did not want to disperse the climate of enthusiasm created in the Cagliari square following the victory of the C Gold playoffs, bringing home some high-profile profiles (Potì, Kucan and Spizzichini) to be integrated into a largely confirmed group.
With the exception of the South Americans Federico Perez and Valentin Garello (carrying baskets for large stretches of the last tournament), coach Manca will in fact be able to count on the hard core who guaranteed the promotion: from Sanna to Picciau passing through Floridia, Villani, Cabriolu and Locci .
In the next few days old and new grenades will meet in the gym in via Pessagno for the start of the pre-season preparation. The debut is set for October 1st on the Palestrina parquet.
